New Philippine Resource Books Are Available

The Philippine Trade and Investment Center - Silicon Valley (PTIC-SV) has recently acquired the following Philippine resource books, which could be of interest to government organizations, non-government organizations, business firms, entrepreneurs, students, international institutions and the general public.

2005 Philippine Statistical Yearbook (PSY): As an information bank of statistics, it illustrates time-series data about the country’s economy and social conditions. The yearbook has data on 19 sectors/subject areas of general interest to meet the wide range of data users. The statistics are based on information gathered in statistical censuses and surveys, as well as from administrative data, which in cooperation with other government agencies, have been made available for statistical purposes.

2004 Philippine Standard Commodity Classification (PSCC): It is a classification of all commodities on imports and exports being used for tariff and statistical purposes. The 2004 PSCC is an integration of the ASEAN Harmonized Tariff Nomenclature (AHTN) based on the 2002 version of the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System (HS) issued by the World Customs Organization (WCO), and the 1993 PSCC (as amended in 1999) based on the “Standard International Trade Commodity (SITC) Rev. 3 issued by the UN Statistical Office in 1986. The 2004 PSCC consists of the 10-digit classification system with the first 6-digit level adhered to the HS code, the 7th and 8th digit level assigned to the ASEAN subheadings and the commodity description, and the 9th and 10th digit level, assigned to commodities which are not in one-to-one correspondence with the AHTN. The 2004 PSCC also incorporated new export products provided by various agencies.

Philippine Buyer’s Directory 2003 Edition: It is a comprehensive database of Philippine manufacturers, exporters and importers in the following export-oriented sectors such as food, garments, fashion accessories and jewelry, footwear and leathergoods, houseware and home textiles, furniture and furnishings, agricultural and marine, and general consumer and industrial products.

Builders Directory Philippines 2006: It is a database of Philippine manufacturers and suppliers of products and services for the building and construction industry, including communications and IT. The Directory also include information on major professional associations in the Philippine construction industry.
